Four soldiers from Dagestan were killed in Ukraine

Deputy of the Babayurt District Assembly Timur Ataev and three of his fellow countrymen were killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have named at least 2122 killed combatants from Dagestan.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by September 23, officials and security forces named at least 2118 servicemen from Dagestan killed in the combat zone in Ukraine and near the border.

The names of four more soldiers killed in Ukraine were announced by the administration of the Babayurt District, reporting on the transfer of posthumous awards to their relatives.

One of the killed is contract soldier Temirsultan Adilov, posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. The other three – Deputy of the Babayurt District Assembly Timur Ataev, as well as Shamsudin Shakhbanov and Marat Karagishev – were named volunteers in the officials' statement.

Ataev worked for many years in the administration of the village of Babayurt, was elected as a deputy of the village assembly in 2020, and then was delegated to the district assembly, where he held the position of deputy chairman, according to a publication from the official Telegram channel of the municipality.

Ataev, Shakhbanov, and Karagishev left behind families, each with three children. The age and other biographical details of the killed servicemen are not provided by the district administration.

Thus, at least 2122 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially announced by representatives of the authorities and security agencies, according to the report from "Caucasian Knot" "Statistics of the Special Military Operation: losses are increasing for southern Russia".

In May, the administration of the Babayurt District informed that Albert Arslangereev was killed in battles in Ukraine.

Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of killed whose names have been officially disclosed by the authorities. Sergey Melikov, who headed Dagestan in February 2022, was the first among representatives of the authorities to announce that a Russian soldier was killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on "Channel One" do not guarantee support from the state for the families of the killed, as stated in the material from "Caucasian Knot" "Three comrades served: how authorities deprive families of killed volunteers of benefits", which describes the stories of the killed fighters. "He has two Orders of Courage. But no official honors have been given to his family," a relative of one of the killed said, in particular.
