A Crimean resident was convicted in Krasnodar in a case of treason.

The Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced a resident of Crimea to a long term, finding him guilty of transferring intercepted radio communications of Russian security forces to Ukrainian intelligence.

The 35-year-old man was found guilty of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of Russia, from 12 to 20 years of imprisonment). He was sentenced to 16 years and three months in a strict regime colony with a two-year restriction of freedom and a fine of 540,000 rubles, reported the Prosecutor's Office of Krasnodar Krai and the united press service of the courts of Kuban.

The agencies describe the circumstances of the case differently. According to the prosecutor's version, the man, at the request of an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, collected and transmitted information to the Ukrainian side obtained from intercepting radio communications of agencies and organizations located in Crimea. In addition, he involved other people in this activity who were ready to provide material and technical assistance to Ukrainian intelligence.

The court's press service provides more details: according to the case materials, the accused was recruited by an employee of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in September 2023 in Warsaw and received special receivers for intercepting radio signals from him. After that, the Crimean resident involved an acquaintance in the activity, and together they carried out assignments – in particular, both set up at least two complexes of equipment for collecting and transmitting radio communications (computers with connected receivers and remote access programs).

For his activities, the man received a reward of 2,000 dollars, which the court confiscated for the state. The prosecutor's office, without mentioning this fee, notes that the accused had mobile phones, computers, and other technical devices confiscated that were used for criminal activities.

The prosecutor's office points out a circumstance not mentioned in the court's message – the punishment was assigned "in conjunction with the punishment assigned by another verdict." When, where, and under what article he received the previous sentence is not explained.

The name of the convicted person and his acquaintance, as well as their occupations, are not specified in official messages. It is not clarified whether the convicted person admitted guilt, nor is the status of his accomplice in the criminal process mentioned. The "Caucasian Knot" currently does not have comments from the convicted person or his lawyer regarding the verdict and plans for appeal.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in March, the Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced 62-year-old Colonel Igor Lominoga of the Ukrainian Emergency Situations Ministry to 14 years in a strict regime for treason. At the end of May, the Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced 49-year-old citizen of Ukraine and Russia Alexandra Krasnikova to 15 years in prison under the same article.
