A resident of Stavropol is accused of justifying terrorism.

Investigators in the Stavropol Territory have initiated a criminal case against an 18-year-old local resident, seeing in her publication in a messenger an justification of terrorism.

The Budennovsk inter-district investigative department for the Stavropol Territory is investigating a criminal case against the 18-year-old girl. She is suspected of publicly justifying terrorism via the internet (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), this article provides for a prison sentence of five to seven years.

According to investigators, on January 7 of this year, the girl, who "held radical-extremist views," posted a video in the Telegram messenger. The content of this video, in the opinion of investigators, justifies violent terrorist actions.

"The investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia is conducting investigative and procedural actions aimed at securing the existing evidence," the Investigative Committee of the Stavropol Territory reports today on its Telegram channel.

The agency did not specify whether a preventive measure was chosen for the girl. The occupation of the suspect is not mentioned, and details of her publication are not provided.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that investigators in Stavropol initiated a case against a 21-year-old resident of a neighboring republic due to a post on social media.
