Yuri Galkin from the Novoanninsky district was killed in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the special operation, at least 1830 fighters from the Volgograd region have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by August 24, representatives of the authorities and law enforcement agencies officially recognized at least 1829 fighters from the Volgograd region as killed in Ukraine.

The administration of the Novoanninsky district reported on the transfer of the Order of Courage to the family of the soldier killed in the military operation, Yuri Galkin, on their page on "VKontakte".

On March 12, 2025, Yuri Galkin signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense. He served as a sniper-scout in the 123rd brigade. He was killed in May 2025.

The number of fighters killed in Ukraine from the southern regions of Russia has exceeded 9600

At least 4773 fighters from the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District and 4832 fighters from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed during the special military operation in Ukraine.

Thus, at least 1830 fighters from the Volgograd region have been officially recognized as killed in the SVO. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives from the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District who were killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially announced by representatives of the authorities and law enforcement agencies, as stated in the report by "Caucasian Knot" "SVO Statistics: Losses for Southern Russia are Growing".

Earlier, the administration of the Novoanninsky district reported that Andrey Kuvshinov was killed in the military operation zone.

Support from the state for the families of the killed fighters is not guaranteed by either state awards, memorial plaques, or appearances on "Channel One", as stated in the material by "Caucasian Knot" "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Deny Benefits to Families of Killed Volunteers", which describes the stories of the killed fighters. In particular, the widow of one of the killed soldiers reported that without the body, the battalion did not make payments related to the death of the serviceman.
