Ramzan Kadyrov: for the present, I don't want to become president of Chechnya

On his birthday, Prime Minister of Chechnya Kadyrov declared that so far he has no presidential ambitions, the NEWSru.com reports.

"I don't know how big they (ambitions) are, but I decided for myself that it is too early for me to become president. Besides, with all my desire in place I can't do it. We have Republic's president-elect, and until his term comes to an end I think it's too early to speak of me as a candidate for the post," Kadyrov stated.

"Thousands of Chechnya citizens have disappeared, hundreds others are in custody in colonies for committed crimes. The nation is waiting for these problems to be settled. It is the president who shall address them," Chechen Premier noted.

"It's most amazing when representatives of in fact well-known and respected editions assume a clever mask and ask me whether I intend to ballot for presidency at the forthcoming election. They can't even get to peep into the current law that defines the electoral procedure of the heads of federal regions," Kadyrov stressed.

He noted that he did not build any plans for the future. "We work day and night and demand from all the government members to do the same. Earlier, they spent days long at various sittings. Heads of administration arrived to Grozny on Monday and sometimes left home at the end of the week. Now, they have no sleep and no rest," Premier said.

When asked about his relations with Alu Alkhanov, president of the Chechen Republic, Kadyrov answered: "Our relations with Chechnya president Alu Alkhanov are typical for the relations of the chairman of the government with the president. They are not tense. Can they always be cloudless? No. But we have no personal claims to each other."

The correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that today Prime Minister of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov is 30 years old. The Republic will hold solemn festivities. As of yesterday, the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs has been switched over to intense security service mode. Today, motor traffic in the central part of Chechen capital has been restricted, and the streets are patrolled by strengthened militia tours of duty.

We remind you also that Kadyrov's image-improvement PR campaign is now underway in Chechnya, and certain central (federal) mass media have joined it.
