Bloody explosion in Dagestan

A powerful explosion sounded in the centre of Dagestan's capital, Makhachkala, at 2.18 pm MSK today when servicemen of a special unit in three GAZ-53 "Ural" trucks pulled over near house no 7 in Atayev St.

The explosion destroyed one of the vehicles and damaged another one, seriously. Ten people were killed on the spot, another one died later. Twenty-three were wounded.

In January 2001, a terrorist act against military men was committed near the same building in Makhachkala, ITAR-TASS reminds. Seven people were killed then.
