Residents of Makhachkala urged officials to resolve the long-standing problem of flooding in the yard.

Sewage has been flooding the yard of three nine-story buildings in the Reducator settlement of Makhachkala for a week, causing dampness and unsanitary conditions, local residents complained. According to them, the problem has existed for several years, and appeals to the authorities and utility services have not yielded results.

According to a resident of house No. 16-a on Gabitov Street in Makhachkala Taiba, there has been a huge puddle of sewage in the yard for a week, and problems with blockages have been ongoing for several years.

"Sometimes services come, clean the pipe. Two or three weeks pass, and it gets clogged again. Now there has been a huge puddle in the yard for almost a week, it's impossible to enter or exit, and there is a terrible smell," he told the correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

The flooded yard is surrounded by three nine-story buildings, accessible via a gravel road with potholes and puddles, Taiba explained. House No. 16-a is located slightly higher and remains dry for now, while the two lower buildings are standing in a large puddle.

Residents' appeals to various authorities have not yielded results, noted Taiba. He himself submitted a complaint through the "State Services Let's Solve Together" platform.

"We have written complaints everywhere, but there has been no proper response. I personally addressed this issue on the "State Services Let's Solve Together" platform. Once they replied that this developer was supposed to arrange the road after completing the building. Why then was the building accepted for operation? It was built about 15 years ago. It turns out we are waiting for the deceased developer to build the road," lamented the resident of Makhachkala.

Due to the flooding of the yard, it is impossible to go for a walk with a child, complained a resident of the house Patimat.

"There is a terrible smell, and you can't walk with a stroller through the water. You have to go further, to neighboring yards," she told the correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

Utility services periodically clean the pipes, but this does not solve the problem, noted a resident of the microdistrict Gasan.

"The problem has not been resolved for many years. We have contacted the city administration, and sometimes they send workers who slightly clean the pipes and leave. In the morning, when going to work, people literally run through the yard to avoid suffocating and getting dirty. Now it will rain, I can only imagine what will happen, everything will be flooded," he told the correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

"Caucasian Knot" does not yet have a comment from the Makhachkala administration.

Recall that residents of Makhachkala have long faced problems with utility infrastructure. On October 17, Makhachkala residents complained about the smell of sewage near Lake Ak-Gyol and pointed out a long-standing problem of pollution in the water body. On July 19, city residents pointed out the unresolved issue with storm drains, which causes streets to flood during rains. On April 16, residents of the Reducator settlement reproached officials for inaction after the flooding of streets and prolonged interruptions with water and electricity.
