The court in Volgograd released journalist Vitaly Koshelev, accused of extortion from the chief physician of one of the clinics, under house arrest until October 23.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in early April, the appellate court rejected the appeal of the defense of Volgograd journalist Vitaly Koshelev, accused of extortion, against his arrest and kept him in pre-trial detention until May 23; his colleague Alexey Serov is under house arrest.

The Central District Court of Volgograd changed the measure of restraint for journalist Vitaly Koshelev on September 29, writes "Vysota 102".

The court repeatedly extended Koshelev's detention in pre-trial detention, justifying this by the likelihood of pressure on the victim and the witness. However, at the last hearing, it still decided to release the journalist under house arrest until October 23, refusing to satisfy the prosecution's request to extend Koshelev's detention.

The second defendant in the case, Alexey Serov, continues to remain under house arrest.

Recall that, according to the investigation, in the spring of this year, the chief physician of one of the Volgograd clinics contacted law enforcement agencies. The woman stated that unknown individuals were extorting more than 1 million 200 thousand rubles from her. It turned out that pressure was being exerted on her through an anonymous Telegram channel with a large audience, which was run by Vitaly Koshelev and Alexey Serov. This resource published information about her and her relatives that was not true and harmed her reputation. Then the authors of the channel contacted the doctor and demanded money for stopping the publications and deleting already published materials. On March 26, it became known about the detention of two journalists in Volgograd.
