According to the prosecutor's office, in 2025 Khundadze, who oversaw control and supervisory functions at customs, conspired with his acquaintance Boris Gogichashvili, who organized underground production of counterfeit whiskey and vodka in Gori under the guise of well-known local brands. Khundadze helped the bootleggers import materials for illegal production without hindrance. He also instructed Gogichashvili on when and how to clear cargo at customs to avoid inspection, providing a "green corridor" for the import of special glass containers, branded caps, labels, and ingredients.

At the time the criminal case was initiated and Khundadze was arrested, he was in Turkey, where, according to his lawyer, he was undergoing treatment. In January 2026, he returned to Georgia and voluntarily appeared at the police station, where he was arrested, informs "News-Georgia".

The Tbilisi City Court sentenced Khundadze to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment, with the term of imprisonment starting from his detention in January 2026.
