Demonstrators in Tbilisi demanded the release of prisoners of conscience

Residents of Tbilisi took to the parliament on the 664th day of continuous protests, demanding a change in political course and the release of those arrested in connection with the protests.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 21, on the 663rd day of the protest, supporters of Georgia's Eurointegration took to the streets in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi. Demonstrators in Adjara demanded the observance of citizens' constitutional rights.

Pro-European activists gathered today in front of the Georgian parliament building and near the Tbilisi city council for the 664th consecutive evening, demanding the release of political prisoners, the repeal of repressive laws, and a change in foreign policy, reports Publika.

The action took place again amid heavy rain, with demonstrators sheltering from the downpour under umbrellas. As seen in the photo by Giorgi Mumladze, some had umbrellas in the colors of the Georgian and European flags.

The gathered held placards reading "Silence kills", "Freedom for Mzia", "Freedom for political prisoners, collapse of the regime", "Antsukhelidze is immortal", and "We do not invite occupiers", according to photos published by photographer Giorgi Mosiashvili (Mo Se).

One of the placards featured a quote from Grigol Robakidze: "Georgia is a wounded sun. Wounded, but still a sun." The protesters' placards also criticized the "Georgian Dream" regarding low purchase prices for grapes and farmers' protests, as well as plans to build an "Arab village" in the territory of the Krtsanisi forest park.

Daily protests are also ongoing in Kutaisi, where activists gather in front of the city hall. About 20 people participated in today's action, carrying flags of Georgia, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine, with a photo from the event published on the Info Imereti page.

Protest participants in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Security forces have conducted harsh dispersals of protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detaining protesters. Thousands of people have faced administrative prosecution during the protests.
