Three injured climbers were evacuated from the avalanche in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Rescuers evacuated three climbers who were injured in an avalanche in the Bezengey Gorge; the fate of another 10 remains unknown.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 6, an avalanche covered a group of climbers consisting of 15 people in the Bezengey Gorge, two people died, three were injured, and ten people are under a layer of snow.

Rescuers evacuated three climbers who were injured in the avalanche from Mount Mijirgi in the Bezengey Gorge on the evening of September 6; they were transported by a Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, reports "Interfax" citing the agency.

The evacuated individuals were taken to Nalchik and handed over to the staff of the Disaster Medicine Center.

The agency also reported that the fate of another 10 group members remains unknown; rescuers from the Elbrus High Mountain Search and Rescue Team of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the operational group of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Kabardino-Balkaria are continuing to work at the site. Search operations are complicated by the difficult terrain and avalanche danger.

A criminal case has been initiated following the avalanche under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence), informs "Kommersant".

Kabardino-Balkaria is one of the main centers for mountain tourism and climbing in Russia. The jewel of the republic is the legendary Elbrus – the highest peak in Europe, at the foot of which are located the ski resorts "Elbrus" and "Cheget".
