Kambolov reported on the freeze of the price of social bread

Acting President of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov reported in his Telegram channel that the management of the bread factory proposed to raise the price of social bread, but he stated that the price will not increase. This decision was also reported by the press service of the republic's government and the state news agency "Res".

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", four candidates have been registered for the extraordinary presidential elections in South Ossetia scheduled for September 18 – acting president Marat Kambolov, Zurab Kokoev, Murat Valiev, and Kazbek Kodoev. Analysts surveyed by "Caucasian Knot" on August 30 named Kambolov's opponents technical candidates.

On August 31, acting president of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov visited the Tskhinval bakery and refused to agree to an increase in the state-regulated price of social bread, which is currently 22 rubles, the government of South Ossetia reported on its website.

The management of the bread factory proposed to raise the price of social bread due to rising production and delivery costs. Kambolov rejected the enterprise's proposal, the state news agency "Res" reported.

Kambolov himself reported the refusal to raise the price of social bread in his Telegram channel. "We will not raise the price of bread, this cannot be allowed. <…> Another problem is the worn-out vehicle fleet. I instructed to prepare a list of necessary transport. In the near future, the republic expects the transfer of about 100 units of various equipment," wrote the acting president of South Ossetia.

He also noted that he instructed to work out a mechanism for compensating costs to maintain an affordable price for bread and ensure the stable operation of the factory. "It is necessary to develop production, expand sales markets, and increase workers' incomes," Kambolov noted.

The average salary of the factory employees is about 29,000 rubles, reported the director of the enterprise Vadim Tskhovrebov, whose words were cited by the government of South Ossetia on its website on August 31.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that residents of South Ossetia regularly complain about rising prices for food and goods and low incomes. Thus, on August 24 of this year, they named high prices and low salaries one of the main problems of the republic. Residents of the republic also pointed to a lack of jobs and insufficient income levels.

In November 2024, residents of South Ossetia complained about rising fuel prices. According to them, after the price of AI-92 gasoline increased from 54 to 60 rubles, the cost of a trip by private taxi from Tskhinval to Vladikavkaz rose from 800 to 1000 rubles. Economist Vyacheslav Djabiev pointed out at that time that the republic's dependence on automotive imports makes prices sensitive to transportation costs.

In November 2023, residents and entrepreneurs of South Ossetia reported a noticeable increase in food prices after Russia imposed export duties.

In March 2011, residents of Tskhinval complained about rising prices for food with unchanged salaries. One of the residents pointed out that the average salary at that time was about six thousand rubles per month.
