Two servicemen from Kalmykia were killed in combat.

Sergeants Evgeny Gavlaev and Ochir Ganiev from the Sarpinsky district were killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, at least 257 fighters from Kalmykia have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, authorities and security forces have recognized at least 255 fighters from Kalmykia as killed.

The head of the Sarpinsky district, Basang Mandzhiev, awarded the families of those killed in the special military operation, Evgeny Gavlaev and Ochir Ganiev, as reported by the district administration on their page on "VKontakte".

Sergeant Gavlaev was born on June 28, 1973, in Elista. He was married. He served under contract in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic. He was killed in May 2025. The Order of Courage (posthumously) was awarded to his father.

Sergeant Ganiev was 21 years old, born in the village of Yashkul. In 2023, he signed a contract for military service. He was killed in January 2026 in the Donetsk People's Republic. The Order of Courage (posthumously) was awarded to his mother.

Thus, at least 257 combatants from Kalmykia have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives from the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District who have been killed in the military operation.
