Social media users pointed out to the authorities the poor condition of Rostov schools.

A week remains until the new school year, and in the Rostov region, many schools have not yet completed repairs, the construction of new educational institutions has been delayed, and near some schools, children are forced to walk on broken roads without sidewalks and lighting, users of social networks pointed out.

The preparation of schools and other educational organizations in the Rostov region for the new school year has been completed, reported Governor Yuri Slyusar. According to him, four new schools will open in the region at the beginning of the school year, and after major repairs, five schools and three kindergartens.

Commentators, identifying themselves as residents of the Rostov region, pointed out the poor condition of schools and unfinished construction. "Good afternoon! New schools are wonderful. When will the old schools be put in order? The roof at school No. 35 in Taganrog has been leaking for years. There is no basic ramp for children with disabilities to enter with a wheelchair. What about the 'accessible environment'? It's complete nonsense!" – wrote Julia.

At school No. 35 in Taganrog, current roof repairs were completed in 2026. However, the budget for Taganrog for 2026 does not provide funds for creating an accessible environment in the school; proposals for allocating funds are planned to be included in the budget project for 2027, the city administration reported in response to her comment.

"Good afternoon, in our school, in the Rodionovo-Nesvetaysky district, the Kuteinikov school is missing part of its roof, and they do not plan to restore it; the district administration says: there is no money, I cannot attach a photo as it is prohibited," – wrote Dmitry I.

"Good afternoon! The question about resuming the construction of a school in the Temernik settlement has been asked repeatedly. They promise to give an answer – and silence. There is one overcrowded school for the entire Shchepkinsky district, and two-thirds of the children are being transported. The site has been allocated, 30% of the work has been completed, and everything is stopped. While the courts are ongoing, many years will pass. A school is critically needed already today! I ask you to look into the situation and find a way to finance the construction today, not 'sometime later'," – wrote Elena.

The municipal contract for the construction of a school in the Temernik settlement has been terminated due to the contractor's violation of antimonopoly legislation. The object is to be preserved until December 10, the authorities of the Aksai district requested funds from the regional budget to complete the construction in 2027-2028, reported the moderator of the Telegram account of the Rostov region government in response to her comment.

Users also complained about unsafe roads and areas around schools. "Is it normal that children have to walk a kilometer to the school bus through rough terrain where trucks drive like crazy?" – wrote Dmitry.

"When will there be a proper sidewalk around school No. 8 in the Zavodskoy microdistrict of Kamensk? It's scary to walk," – pointed out Svetlana.

"Rostov-on-Don, Detskaya Street, school No. 7 and around it. After the hurricane on July 25, broken trees have not been removed, branches are hanging on wires above the pedestrian path to the school. Not only the area around the school but also on Detskaya Street nearby. On July 27, a request was sent for the removal of branches from the power lines through State Services – silence, they don't even send replies that they will do something. Street lighting on the paths to the school has not been restored," – complained Elena.

Sidewalk repairs in the Zavodskoy microdistrict of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky are planned for October, provided that funding is allocated. Work to eliminate emergency trees on Detskaya Street in Rostov-on-Don should be completed by September 10, the city administration indicated in response to her comment.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that residents of the Rostov region have repeatedly complained about problems with school infrastructure. For example, on April 25, 2024, residents of Bataisk complained about the lack of places and the condition of school No. 6, where, according to them, the ceiling collapsed twice, the roof leaks, and children studied in three shifts. On June 5, 2022, residents of the Sidorovo-Kadamovsky settlement opposed the closure of the only school and kindergarten.
