The train with Russian wheat has departed for Armenia through Azerbaijan.

26 wagons with 1,820 tons of Russian wheat have been sent in transit through Azerbaijan to Armenia.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on August 15, a freight train with Russian wheat was sent in transit through Azerbaijan to Armenia. A total of 560 tons of wheat will arrive in Armenia.

The freight train carrying Russian wheat to Armenia in transit through the territory of Azerbaijan departed from the Bilyadzhari station of the Azerbaijan Railways, Report reports today.

The train consists of 26 wagons - 1,820 tons of wheat.

In total, about 43,000 tons of grain, about 9,000 tons of fertilizers, 1,136 tons of propane, 133 tons of aluminum, 1,114 tons of coal, and 67 tons of wood have been sent from Russia to Armenia in transit through Azerbaijan.

At the same time, to date, about 15,000 tons of diesel fuel, about 5,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline have been exported from Azerbaijan to Armenia.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the suspension of operations at two grain terminals in Novorossiysk after drone attacks will lead to a significant reduction in grain exports and increase the risk of bankruptcy for agricultural producers amid constantly falling grain prices, analysts noted. Wheat prices are steadily declining, agricultural producers emphasized. The "Delo" group of companies, which owns the third grain terminal of the KSK in the port of Novorossiysk, announced on August 13 the suspension of its operational activities for security reasons.

It is worth noting that in October 2025, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev announced the lifting of all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia. In early November 2025, a shipment of Russian grain arrived in Armenia through Azerbaijan for the first time since the 1990s. The Armenian authorities stated that this fulfilled one of the agreements reached in the USA, contributing to strengthening peace between Yerevan and Baku.

On February 4, Aliyev and Pashinyan discussed the initiated economic cooperation at a meeting in the UAE and agreed to seek opportunities to expand trade. Although trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia is mutually beneficial, it is expected to be limited in the near future, Baku analysts believe.
