Makhachkala residents took to the streets for the third time in a week due to power outages.

Residents of Irchi Kazaka Street blocked vehicle traffic on August 13 due to a lack of electricity for three days. Energy workers explained the outage as damage to a facility on private property.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the problem of regular power outages in Makhachkala is not being resolved, local residents stated. On August 6, residents of Kadyrov Street in Makhachkala blocked the road due to a lack of electricity for several days, and after the protest, power was restored to their homes. On August 12, residents of the Makhachkala neighborhood New City gathered on Kammaeva Street, demanding electricity. Authorities soon reported the resumption of power supply, explaining the outages as an accident.

Electricity in the apartment buildings on Irchi Kazaka Street has been turned off daily for the past week, local resident Arsen told a correspondent from "Caucasian Knot". "It is impossible to cook food, wash clothes, the elevators are not working," the man said.

"Every day there is no electricity, the emergency services do not respond, they have driven people to the point where they have to block the streets," said Marina.

After the protest began, representatives of the city administration and energy workers arrived at the scene, "they said that they would restore electricity in the near future," said a resident of Gadjimurad Street at 21:00 Moscow time.

"The damaged network infrastructure belongs to a private enterprise and is located on its territory. As a result of the technical violation that occurred at this energy facility, a number of residential buildings on several streets of Makhachkala, particularly on Irchi Kazaka Street and Industrial Lane, remain without electricity," reported "Dagenergo" on its Telegram channel.

The Makhachkala administration also responded to the protest of residents of Irchi Kazaka Street. "The head of the internal policy department of the Makhachkala city administration, Kurban Kadyrov, and his colleagues are communicating with the residents of the area, informing them about the progress of work and plans for restoring power supply," the administration reported on its Telegram channel.

In an updated message at 21:16 Moscow time, it was stated that "the residents of the apartment buildings on Irchi Kazaka Street have returned home".

Makhachkala residents regularly complain about problems with electricity and water supply. At the end of July 2025, Makhachkala residents complained about prolonged power outages lasting several days. Officials explained the power interruptions as due to repair work and abnormal heat.

In August 2025, residents of the Reducer settlement held a spontaneous street protest due to a lack of electricity in their homes. After that, the city administration reported that the power supply to most homes had been restored. In the summer of 2024, residents of the settlement also held a spontaneous protest due to power outages.
