A resident of Chechnya has been convicted for calls to violence against the head of state.

Magomed Bortiev from the village of Mayrtup has been sentenced to six years in a general regime colony for calls to extremist activities and propaganda of terrorism. According to the investigation and court version, he also posted calls for violent actions against the head of state.

Today, the Southern District Military Court announced the verdict in the criminal case against Magomed Bortiev.

According to the court and investigation, on February 23 and March 14, 2024, the defendant, who was residing in Chechnya, prepared and posted comments online, the court's press service reports on its page on "VKontakte".

In these comments, he called for violent actions against the head of state, as well as for extremist activities against individuals based on national characteristics.

According to the court's verdict, Bortiev was found guilty of publicly calling for extremist activities 1 and publicly justifying terrorism or promoting terrorism 2 . He was sentenced to six years in prison. The convicted person will serve his sentence in a general regime correctional colony.

"The verdict has not entered into legal force and may be appealed by the parties in the Military Appellate Court," the court's message states.

Magomed Bortiev was born on November 30, 2003, in the village of Mayrtup in the Kurchaloevsky district, according to the record in the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring. According to a bot that tracks updates in this list, Bortiev's data with a note of involvement in terrorism was added there on February 25, 2026.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a native of the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya was arrested in Oryol for justifying terrorism. Her name was added to the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring, but was soon removed from it.
