Circassian repatriate from Nalchik Khalid Karaf said that after the notification of his son's death, the authorities have still not provided the confirming documents.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", earlier, Nalchik resident Khalid Karaf (Kerefo), who came to Russia as a repatriate from Syria, said that he tried to find out the fate of his 30-year-old son Nurdin (Najmuddin), who had not been in contact with relatives for about six months. Karaf, his wife, and daughter were summoned to the FSB after the man tried to find out the fate of his missing son. Khalid was threatened that his son and he would be "sent to the special military operation as stormtroopers", and later it was reported that his son was dead.

Khalid Karaf said that he has not received any documents regarding his son's death to this day. "I was told that he died and some of his friends identified his body. To this moment, his body has not even been delivered to Rostov-on-Don," he told the correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

Karaf learned about his son's disappearance only after some time, as he had gone to Moscow: the father believed that his son was in Moscow, while relatives in Moscow thought he had stayed in Nalchik. "And until a little over a week ago when they called to ask when he would come, we had such confidence, and neither I nor they tried to search for him," Khalid Karaf said.

According to him, before he learned about his son's disappearance and began receiving threats by phone, Karaf and his family had no conflicts with representatives of the security forces.

If Khalid Karaf wants to seek protection of his rights in international organizations, he can contact the UN Human Rights Committee, noted human rights activist Alexander Cherkasov*. "This is the only similar structure from which Russia has not yet withdrawn. It is not a fact that this will help, but at least it will provide moral satisfaction. And such an appeal will not harm him," he told the correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

The procedure for the deportation of repatriates from Russia has noticeably simplified in recent years, said the head of the "Civic Assistance" committee* Svetlana Gannushkina*. "Earlier, one had to go to court. Now the Ministry of Internal Affairs resolves this out of court. The other thing is that such a decision can be appealed – the main thing is not to miss the deadlines for appeal," she explained to the correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".
