A student from Chechnya has been arrested on charges of justifying terrorism.

A native of the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya has been arrested in Oryol. Her name was added to the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring, but was soon removed from it.

"Caucasian Knot" reported that courts in southern Russia regularly sentence local residents to real prison terms for publications on social media under the article on justifying terrorism via the internet. It is impossible to establish the actual number of such sentences, as not all cases of justifying terrorism make it into public court registries.

22-year-old Mariyam Dondaeva, a native of the Urus-Martan district of Chechnya, has been arrested on charges of justifying terrorism on the internet. The case was initiated on July 1, and its details are unknown, reported "Mediazona"*.

The girl was detained on July 20, and on July 21, the Soviet District Court of Oryol sent her to a pre-trial detention center. Lawyer Larisa Melikhova appealed the arrest order, but the Oryol Regional Court upheld it.

It is noteworthy that Mariyam Dondaeva's name was added to the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring on July 6 with a note of involvement in terrorism. A few days before her detention, on July 15, Dondaeva's data was removed from the list and has not been added back, indicates a Telegram bot tracking updates to the list.

According to open data, Dondaeva is a student at the Oryol Medical College. In 2020, she enrolled in the budget department to study nursing.

The article charged against Mariyam Dondaeva (part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of Russia) provides for a prison term of five to seven years.
