The teenager from Mikhailovsk was sentenced to actual time for posting online.

The military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced a 17-year-old resident of Stavropol to imprisonment, finding him guilty of publicly justifying terrorism.

"Caucasian Knot" reported that courts in southern Russia regularly sentence local residents to actual time in prison for publications on social networks under the article on justifying terrorism via the internet. It is impossible to establish the actual number of such sentences, as not all cases of justifying terrorism make it into public court registries.

The 17-year-old resident of Mikhailovsk was accused of publicly justifying terrorism via the internet (part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of Russia). This article provides for imprisonment of five to seven years.

According to the prosecution's version, the teenager held "radically extremist views." In March 2025, he published a post in a messenger that, according to security officials, "justifies violent, terrorist actions."

Before the trial, the young man was in custody, as noted in the message from the Investigative Committee of the Stavropol Territory. The agency did not specify how his radical views were expressed and what exactly the publication was about.

The case of the teenager was considered by the Southern District Military Court. The young man agreed with the charges and expressed remorse, notes "Kommersant."

The defendant was sentenced to three years in a correctional colony with a two-year ban on publications on the internet and site administration. The name of the accused is hidden in the court registry, while in July 2025, a native of Mikhailovsk, Daniil Kotovets, was added to the register of terrorists and extremists by Rosfinmonitoring. The young man was born in December 2008, and he is now 17 years old.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a minor resident of the Astrakhan region came under investigation under the article on publicly justifying terrorism on the internet due to publications in her Telegram channel.
