The authorities' report on the decrease in gasoline prices has caused skepticism among the residents of North Ossetia.

At gas stations in North Ossetia, gasoline prices have remained roughly at the same level over the past week, local residents said, commenting on Rosstat's report about a decrease in fuel prices in several regions.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 29, the limit on fuel sales for local residents in North Ossetia was increased to 50 liters, while for residents of other regions it was set at 30 liters.

In 23 regions of Russia, a decrease in gasoline prices has been recorded. In 18 regions, including Adygea, prices have decreased by less than 5 percent, reported RIA "Novosti" on July 31, citing Rosstat.

The message about the decrease in fuel prices was published on the Instagram*-page northossetia, which has about 387 thousand followers. As of 08:50 MSK on August 3, the post had received 120 likes and 44 comments.

Some participants in the discussion expressed doubt about the report of price decreases. "Interesting, where is that?" – wrote alan786198.

Recall that on July 24, more than a quarter of gas stations in North Ossetia were out of fuel. The authorities limited gasoline sales to motorists from other regions to 20 liters per transaction, while residents of the republic could fill up to 40 liters.

The head of North Ossetia Sergey Menyaylo stated that fuel in the republic costs half as much as in Kabardino-Balkaria. Social media users disputed this assessment, indicating that real prices at local gas stations are significantly higher than stated. They also complained about queues and the lack of fuel in the evening.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the fuel crisis in the southern regions of Russia has led to a sharp increase in demand for the installation of gas equipment and has caused queues at auto repair shops. Due to long waiting times, drivers are forced to turn to "gray" installers, who do not guarantee the safety of the equipment, analysts noted.

Mass conversion of cars to gas will not solve the fuel problem, as the necessary infrastructure is currently lacking. Creating it in a short time is impossible, noted the deputy director of the National Energy Institute Alexander Frolov. According to him, the crisis has prompted attention to existing programs that are being implemented significantly slower than planned.

The leading analyst of the National Energy Security Fund Igor Yushkov suggested that the increased demand for gas equipment installation will be temporary. After the gasoline problem is resolved and queues at gas stations disappear, drivers' interest in switching to gas will decrease, he indicated.
