Irina Polishchuk has been sentenced to four years in a penal colony.

The court found the former head of the administration of Zernograd, Irina Polishchuk, guilty of exceeding her official powers and sentenced her to four years in a penal colony.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in October 2024, the head of the administration of Zernograd, Irina Polishchuk, was suspected of exceeding her official powers. According to the investigation, she signed acts of acceptance for substandard road works, during which instead of a full pothole repair, the holes were simply filled with gravel and compacted. On May 29, she was sent to pre-trial detention. At the hearing on July 4, the prosecutor requested to sentence Polishchuk to five years in a penal colony.

The Zernograd District Court of the Rostov Region issued a verdict on July 23 against the former head of the administration of Zernograd, Irina Polishchuk, finding her guilty of committing a crime under paragraph "e" of part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (exceeding official powers), reports "Kommersant" citing the unified press service of the courts in the region.

The court sentenced Polishchuk to four years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime penal colony. In addition, she was ordered to pay 1.6 million rubles to the Zernograd urban settlement.

It should be noted that Polishchuk did not admit her guilt, stating that the criminal case is a "contract" from other officials and entrepreneurs who were dissatisfied with her activities as the head of the administration.
