Former Attorney General of Georgia Zodelava returned from the clinic to prison

Member of the "United National Movement" Murtaz Zodelava, convicted in the case of the attempted storming of the presidential palace, has been discharged from the Vivamed clinic.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 17, Zodelava, convicted in the case of the attempted storming of the presidential palace, was urgently transferred from Rustavi prison to the "Vivamed" clinic. The third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, who is serving his sentence in the same institution, stated that Zodelava had suffered two strokes, a claim denied by the clinic and the Penitentiary Service.

Opposition politician Murtaz Zodelava was discharged from the Vivamed clinic on July 20. This was reported by the clinical director of the medical institution Zurab Chkhaidze. "His health condition was stable," Chkhaidze's words are quoted by Interpressnews.

In the case of the protest action on October 4, 2025, in early May 2026, Murtaz Zodelava was sentenced to 7 years in prison. He was charged under subparagraph "a" of part 2 of article 19-222 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which concerns the attempted seizure and blocking of strategically and specially significant facilities committed by a group of individuals.
