The names of three soldiers from Dagestan killed in Ukraine have been announced.

Ruslan Medzhidov and two of his fellow countrymen from the Tabasaran district were killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have officially recognized at least 2041 servicemen from Dagestan as killed there.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by July 17, officials publicly named the names of at least 2038 killed fighters from Dagestan in Ukraine.

The administration of the Tabasaran district named the names of three more soldiers killed in Ukraine while reporting on the awarding of posthumous state awards to them.

The killed are Ruslan Medzhidov from the village of Khurik, Maxim Aliskerov from the village of Sirtych, and Gasan Gadzhimagomedov from the village of Gasik. All of them were posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, the official Telegram channel of the municipality reported.

The age and biographical details of the killed soldiers are not provided in the officials' message. After the awards were presented, the head of the Tabasaran district, Magomed Kurbanov, "inquired with the relatives of the deceased servicemen about the problems they faced in receiving the benefits and payments due to them," the publication notes.

Thus, at least 2041 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially announced by representatives of the authorities and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Statistics of the Special Military Operation: losses in southern Russia are increasing".

In early June, the administration of the Tabasaran district named the names of five soldiers killed in Ukraine. Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of killed whose names have been officially disclosed by the authorities. Sergey Melikov, who headed Dagestan in February 2022, was the first among the authorities to announce that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov.
