Kokov's report on the budget increase drew criticism from the residents of Kabardino-Balkaria.

The head of Kabardino-Balkaria reported a 10 percent increase in the budget and stated that the fuel crisis will not affect the economy. Residents of the republic, commenting on his interview on social media, pointed out that the quality of life has not improved. They also complained about rising prices, low incomes, interruptions in water supply, and the state of infrastructure.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", residents of Kabardino-Balkaria regularly complain about the problem of broken infrastructure. On July 3, they criticized the authorities' report on tourism development. The Ministry of Resorts of Kabardino-Balkaria announced its intention to work with Moscow State University to improve staff qualifications and conduct research. Local residents, commenting on the ministry's report on social media, pointed out to officials that the development of tourism is hindered by unresolved issues with garbage disposal, broken roads, and high gasoline prices.

The fuel crisis will not affect the economic situation in Kabardino-Balkaria. The republic has adopted a budget of 76.7 billion rubles, which is 10 percent more than last year's budget. The authorities took into account the rise in fuel prices and other factors affecting people's quality of life, and allocated resources to compensate for them, reported the head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Kazbek Kokov.

A video of Kokov's interview was published on Instagram* by the public account goloskbr on July 18. Commenting on this post, residents of Kabardino-Balkaria complained about rising prices for fuel and food, low incomes, interruptions in water supply, as well as the state of infrastructure and violations of garbage collection schedules.

Some commentators stated that the head of the republic did not provide specific solutions to the problems. "Why juggle such numbers that many can't even imagine? Go there - I don't know where, bring that - I don't know what. It seems he gave an interview, but in fact, said nothing specific," wrote sher_0711. "The same high-flown words, in the end, said nothing. Let him listen to himself from the side," noted toss70.

A separate topic was the rise in gasoline prices. "Finally, stop the rise in gasoline prices! No need to say a lot of smart words... You add percentages, remove something else... How much longer... We're tired!" wrote svet.lana6258.

"Why sit and say such long phrases that do not please us at all? Stop the prices on gasoline," wrote cherkeshenka1.

Commentators also pointed out the rising prices of food, utilities, and other everyday expenses. "Maybe income has increased, but prices for food, electricity, gas, and now fuel have risen proportionally. So the quality of life has not improved, but is getting worse every time," wrote djusi07.

"Blah-blah-blah, but a piece of meat already costs 1000 rubles, chicken - 1300. Maybe it's time to move from words to action?" wrote zaerremma.

Some users called on the authorities to increase support for pensioners and needy residents. "Will there be help for pensioners in the priority list, or will they die without having eaten enough? The regional supplement needs to be increased to at least the subsistence minimum," wrote marico0703. "Just help a little, please, needy people," wrote maritaafaunova_1.

Residents of the Baksan and Zolsky districts reported problems with water supply. "Give water to the Baksan district. People live without water!" wrote squirrel.2809532. "In our Zolsky district, there is no water for three to four days, and the water that flows from the tap is not suitable for consumption," wrote zhanna27331.

Among the infrastructure problems, users mentioned the lack of asphalt on the streets and insufficient improvement. "Kazbek, when will there be asphalt on our streets, at least once in a lifetime?" wrote anzor3503. "Somewhere they teach to speak beautifully about nothing... Just go out on the street and tidy up where there is disorder," wrote vitali_787.

Participants in the discussion demanded increased control over medical institutions and pointed out the cost of treatment. "Medicine is a beautiful word, but very expensive. One visit to a doctor costs 3-5 thousand rubles," wrote dzhek169.

Users also raised issues of resettling dormitories and increasing expenses for transport and housing and communal services. "Resettle the dormitories!" wrote nalshik_ru. "Old dilapidated dormitories... People live in them and die. Urban and intercity transport has become more expensive, and utility payments are rising like yeast," wrote dzhek169.

Recall that on June 16, residents of an emergency dormitory in Nalchik asked the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, to intervene in the resettlement situation. Bastrykin demanded a report on the criminal case regarding the delays in resettling the residents of this house.

Residents of Kabardino-Balkaria have also repeatedly complained about problems with garbage disposal. In particular, in August 2025, more than 7400 people signed a petition demanding to stop cooperation with the company "Ekologistika" as a regional operator for waste disposal. Since May 15, a new operator, "Ekotechprom," has been operating in Kabardino-Balkaria. However, residents of the republic noted that there has not yet been a fundamental improvement in the situation since the start of "Ekotechprom"'s work.
