A serviceman in Nalchik has been sentenced to a long term for absences from service.

The Nalchik garrison military court sentenced serviceman Timur Nasypliyev to 5.5 years in a penal colony for two absences from service during mobilization.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 24, 2022, parts 2.1, 3.1, and 5 of Article 337 on the unauthorized leaving of a unit or place of service during mobilization were introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The amendments provide for imprisonment for up to 10 years. The tightening of legislation after the announcement of mobilization led to harsher sentences for absence from military units or desertion.

Nasypliyev was charged with two episodes of failing to report for service for more than a month during mobilization (part 5 of Article 337 of the Criminal Code of Russia). This article provides for imprisonment from five to ten years.

According to the prosecution's version, on May 19, 2025, Nasypliyev did not report to the military unit located in the Rostov region at the appointed time. On September 23, he was found at his residence by a police officer. The serviceman spent more than four months at home.

On December 1, 2025, Nasypliyev again failed to report for service - this time to another military unit located in Mozdok. On April 15, 2026, he voluntarily went to the military investigative department in Nalchik. This time he also "spent time at his discretion" at home - another four and a half months, according to a report from the press service of the Nalchik garrison military court.

In court, Nasypliyev admitted his guilt and expressed regret for his actions, but the court regarded his actions as two serious crimes against military service, "negatively affecting the fulfillment of daily combat training tasks".

For the aggregate of crimes, Nasypliyev was sentenced to 5.5 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. He was taken into custody in the courtroom and placed in a detention center.

The court's message only mentions the last name of the convicted, while in the records of the Nalchik garrison military court, the accused is listed as Timur Nasypliyev. The case was submitted to the court on July 6 and was considered in one session, with the sentence delivered on July 14.

The court does not report what happened to Nasypliyev in the interval between the episodes: after he was found at home in September 2025, he again failed to report to the unit two months later in another region. The age, military rank, and place of residence of the convicted are also not specified in the message. "Caucasian Knot" currently has no comments from Nasypliyev or his lawyer regarding plans to appeal the sentence.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that earlier a court in Nalchik sentenced serviceman Idris Khashagulgov, who was absent from the unit for nine months, to five years in prison.
