The head of the Customs Committee of South Ossetia has been arrested in a bribery case.

According to the investigation, the official transferred 10 million rubles to the employees of the regional FSB for halting the inspection of the commercial organization of which he is the owner.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the Investigative Committee of North Ossetia has initiated criminal cases against the former Deputy Prime Minister of the republic, Larisa Tuganova, and her son. They are suspected of receiving a large bribe and mediating in bribery.

Criminal proceedings for giving a bribe of 10 million rubles have been initiated against the head of the Customs Committee of South Ossetia, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reports.

"The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania have charged the head of the Customs Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia with committing a crime under part 5 of article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe to an official for committing obviously illegal actions on a particularly large scale)," the message quoted by Interfax states.

According to the investigation, in 2026, the accused transferred 10 million rubles to the employees of the regional FSB through an acquaintance for halting inspection activities regarding the commercial organization of which he is the owner. The organization itself operates in the territory of the Russian Federation.

"FSB employees refused to accept the illegal monetary reward and stopped the illegal actions of the subject. At the request of the investigation, the court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for the accused," the Investigative Committee of Russia informs, without specifying the duration of the arrest.

The name of the subject of the case is not disclosed in the release, but the website of the government of South Ossetia indicates that the head of the Customs Committee is Alexander Chochiev.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in March, the court detained for two months the former Minister of Construction of North Ossetia, Konstantin Morgoev, who is suspected of exceeding official powers.
