Magomet Muцolgov, who is accused of kidnapping an apartment owner in Moscow, extortion, and murder, jumped out of the window during his arrest and disappeared after treatment in the hospital. Law enforcement officials detained him again in Ingushetia and brought him to Moscow, where he was arrested.

He was then brought to the capital, where he was arrested by the Zamoskvoretsky District Court. He has been charged with kidnapping, extortion, and murder (Articles 126, 163, and 105 of the Criminal Code).

The investigation established that in 2014, he, along with his relatives, kidnapped the owner of one of the apartments in Moscow, drugged him, and demanded the transfer of ownership of the property. The kidnapped person died, and his body was hidden. The investigation believes that there are several such episodes attributed to the suspect.

The alleged criminal group included brothers Aslan, Akhsa, Ruslan, Yakub, and Magomet Muцolgov and other suspects. According to law enforcement, they have been operating in the Moscow region since 2007, committing crimes related to real estate. At the end of last year, most of them were detained by FSB officers and arrested.

When law enforcement previously came for Magomet Muцolgov, he tried to escape by jumping out of the window of his third-floor apartment in Moscow. With serious injuries, the accused ended up in the hospital, from which, having barely recovered, he disappeared.

Analysts debated the reasons for the persecution of Batalkhadjins

The persecution of Batalkhadjins is related to the presence of armed groups within their structure and their high mobilization capacity, believes a Caucasus expert. The reasons for the persecution lie in the political sphere, indicated another analyst.

Batalkhadjins are involved in both the case of the terrorist attack in "Crocus City Hall" and the case of the murder on November 2, 2019, in Moscow of the head of the Ingush CPB Ibrahim Eldzharkiev and his brother, doctor Ahmed Eldzharkiev. The attack on Eldzharkiev could have been committed due to blood revenge against the backdrop of his conflict with Batalkhadjins, sources suggested at the time. Alihan Belkhoroev was detained in connection with the attack on Eldzharkiev. Relatives considered the criminal prosecution of Belkhoroev an attack on Batalkhadjins.

Batal-khadji Belkhoroev is an Ingush sheikh, the founder of one of the Kadirite branches (virds), a follower of Sheikh Kunta-khadji, as reported in a reference published on "Caucasian Knot" titled "Batal-khadji and his followers". In February 2023, the FSB included the military wing of the Batalkhadjins in the list of terrorist organizations.
