A resident of Adygea was convicted of desecrating the Eternal Flame in the village of Giaginskaya.

The Giaginsky District Court of Adygea sentenced a man to one year and eight months of imprisonment for extinguishing the Eternal Flame at the mass grave of soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in early April, a resident of the village of Giaginskaya in Adygea, who extinguished the eternal flame at the "Mass Grave" memorial, was accused of desecrating military burials.

According to the court and investigation, the man was on the territory of the cultural heritage site "Mass Grave" in the village of Giaginskaya. He threw his outer clothing into the hearth of the memorial structure "Eternal Flame" and extinguished the flame, after which he left the scene, reported the unified press service of the courts of Adygea on their Telegram channel.

"Examining the evidence, the court found the man guilty of desecrating memorial structures 1 , and sentenced him to one year and eight months of imprisonment. The convicted person will serve his sentence in a strict regime correctional colony.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in November 2025, the Supreme Court of Dagestan tightened the sentence for two women from Makhachkala, accused of insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland after making coffee over the Eternal Flame. Initially, both women were sentenced to probation, but later the court ordered each of them to pay a fine of 2 million rubles.

In the summer of 2025, the court sentenced four residents of Dagestan to terms in a settlement colony, who had previously publicly apologized for desecrating the Eternal Flame in Nevinnomyssk.
