A native of Volgograd has been sentenced to a long term for treason.

The court in Saratov sentenced Volgograd resident Sergey Subbotin to 14 years in a strict regime, finding him guilty of treason.

Subbotin is 36 years old; he was detained by FSB officers in July 2025. The native of Volgograd was charged with treason and legalization of criminal income (Article 275 and part 1 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The first article provides for imprisonment from twelve to twenty years, the second - a monetary fine. The case was considered by the Saratov Regional Court.

According to the prosecution's version, in the spring of 2024, Subbotin began cooperating with the Security Service of Ukraine. Having received $1200, he bought a new mobile phone and traveled from Volgograd to Saratov, renting an apartment there with a view of the city of Engels, writes “Mediazona” referring to the court's press service on July 1.

Furthermore, the prosecution believes that Subbotin acquired a delivery bag from “Yandex” to carry out tasks for the SBU under the guise of a courier. It is alleged that the Volgograd resident collected data on certain objects and prepared diversions and terrorist acts against Russian military personnel, although the details of these operations are not disclosed.

For completing tasks, Subbotin received about 210,000 rubles - the transfers were sent to a Ukrainian bank card, the accused converted them into cryptocurrency and then transferred them to his Russian account.

In court, Sergey Subbotin “fully admitted his guilt,” refusing to testify. On June 30, he was sentenced to 14 years in a strict regime colony with a restriction of freedom for one and a half years and a fine of 80,000 rubles.

“Caucasian Knot” also reported that at the end of April, the Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced a resident of Krasnodar to 13 years of imprisonment, finding her guilty of treason due to money transfers to a Ukrainian account made in February 2022.
