A resident of Kaspiysk was convicted in a case of financing militants.

The military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced a resident of Dagestan, Bilal Gasanov, to nine years in prison for financing a terrorist organization banned in Russia, "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham".*

Gasanov was charged with aiding terrorist activities through financing (part 1.1 of article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), which provides for a prison term of eight to 15 years.

According to the prosecution's version, on February 15, 2025, Gasanov entered into correspondence with an unknown person located in Turkey. This person reported that he was raising funds for members of armed groups and "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham"*, and provided Gasanov with bank card details.

While in Kaspiysk, Gasanov made several transfers to the account, totaling 332,612 rubles, TASS reports, citing the court's press service.

Gasanov was sentenced to nine years in a strict regime colony, with the first three years to be served in prison. The case was submitted to the Southern District Military Court on January 28, the proceedings concluded after eight hearings, and the verdict was delivered today, according to the case card on the court's website.

Bilal Gasanov is a native of Kaspiysk, he is 26 years old, according to the record in the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring. According to a message from a Telegram bot tracking updates in this list, Gasanov's data with a note of involvement in terrorism was added to it on October 27, 2025.

The court's press service did not specify whether Gasanov admitted guilt. "Caucasian Knot" currently does not have comments from the convicted person and his lawyer regarding plans to appeal the verdict.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that at the end of April, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Dmitry Syromyatov, a native of Karachay-Cherkessia, to 18 years in a strict regime for participating in "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham"*. In May, a resident of Dagestan, Khalid Asadulaev, was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison for transferring cryptocurrency to the account of this organization.
