Makhachkala residents criticized the government's report on post-flood payments.

The Makhachkala City Hall reported that more than 23,000 Makhachkala residents received compensation following the spring floods. Commenting on the authorities' report on social media, residents complained that the compensation was insufficient to repair their homes, and that they had to run around to various authorities to receive the money.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," on June 25, it was announced that the total amount of compensation paid to residents of Dagestan affected by the floods had reached 1.9 billion rubles. More than 52,000 people received assistance, which is less than 20% of the total number of applicants.

On June 26, the Makhachkala administration reported on its website that 23,386 Makhachkala residents received payments following the spring floods. This figure is current as of today, and processing of applications is ongoing, the statement said.

The Makhachkala authorities' report on payments to flood victims was published on June 26 by the Instagram* page hello_makhachkala, which has approximately 188,000 followers. As of 1:00 PM Moscow time on June 27, the post had garnered 51 likes and 18 comments.

"Not everyone. We haven't received a single ruble yet," wrote user mehdievag. "No one I know has received anything, including us," emphasized lor_timur_uzairov.

"We haven't seen anything other than the 15,000 rubles in reassurance, and we're entitled to a lot," noted gulya_07_10.

"The one-time payment of 15,000 rubles should arrive. What good will it do if the entire house had to be torn down?" – user ms_899_3 noted.

"And those who haven't received their money yet are still running around all the authorities. And they're kicking people around like a soccer ball. It's the Ministry of Emergency Situations, then social security, then the administration, and so on. Please tell us what to do next? Who will rebuild our houses after the flood?" – ve_ra_19_ asked.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that residents of Dagestan affected by the flooding in March-April are still waiting for compensation from the authorities for lost property. In Mamedkala alone, where more than 500 homes were damaged by the flood, by June 20, victims had submitted more than 400 applications for benefits.

Floods caused by torrential rains began in the North Caucasus in late March and have become some of the most destructive in recent years.
