The arrest of the former head of Rostov-on-Don has been extended.

The Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don extended the pretrial detention of former Rostov-on-Don administration head Alexey Logvinenko until September 23.

As reported by Kavkazsky Knot, at the end of March, the court ruled to keep Alexey Logvinenko in custody until June 23. The former head of Rostov-on-Don invoked Article 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and refused to testify against himself during interrogations. Logvinenko was detained on October 24, 2025, and subsequently arrested on suspicion of abuse of power (Article 286 of the Russian Criminal Code). The defense appealed the arrest, but the Rostov Regional Court upheld the arrest warrant. On December 22, it was announced that Logvinenko had also become a suspect in a second criminal case for bribery. On the same day, his arrest was extended by three months.

RBK reported the extension of the arrest of former head of the Rostov-on-Don administration, Alexei Logvinenko, citing the court's press service.

"The detention of Alexei Valentinovich Logvinenko has been extended until September 23, 2026, inclusive. His arrest was extended by a total of 11 months," the press service said.

According to a Kommersant-Rostov source in law enforcement, a representative of a commercial firm transferred 13 million rubles to Mr. Logvinenko through municipal employees. The former official used the proceeds to purchase real estate.

As a reminder, Alexey Logvinenko resigned in January 2025, explaining that he was leaving due to health reasons and a new job.

Logvinenko was appointed head of the Rostov-on-Don administration in October 2019 by a decision of the City Duma. In October 2021, the deputies extended his term. The head of the administration has often been criticized on social media, including for his work with dilapidated housing stock and issuing permits for construction in the city's grove area.
