Two Ingushetia residents have been arrested for illegal possession of weapons.

FSB officers detained two men in Ingushetia for possessing pistols converted from non-lethal to combat-grade.

The detained Ingush residents are 39 and 42 years old. The Malgobeksky Inter-Municipal Police Department opened a case against them for illegal arms trafficking based on FSB materials.

According to security officials, two firearms, converted from non-lethal to combat-grade, were found in the homes of both detainees. 9mm ammunition for these weapons was also seized, Interfax-Yug reported, citing an FSB representative.

The article on illegal trafficking of firearms and ammunition (Part 1 of Article 222 of the Russian Criminal Code) carries a sentence of three to five years in prison. The investigation is examining the connections of those detained in search of "other instances of illegal activity," the department noted.

The names of the suspects and the measures of restraint chosen for them were not disclosed in the report. Caucasian Knot has not yet received comments from the detainees or their lawyers.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in early June, security forces detained 54-year-old Hasan Altemirov, a member of the militant wing of the Batalhadzhin vird*. According to security forces, in 2025, Altemirov, on the orders of vird leaders, provided at least three wanted Batalhadzhin vird members with fake passports. Among them, the Investigative Committee specifically notes, is Batyr Kulayev, who, together with his accomplices, armed the terrorists who participated in the attack on Crocus City Hall.

According to the case materials, Ingush natives Khusen Medov, Dzhabrail Aushev, Khavazh-Bagaudin Aliyev, and Batyr Kulayev obtained five blank-firing assault rifles and then converted them into live ones. They also obtained 1,881 7.62mm rounds of ammunition. The guns and ammunition were hidden in Ingushetia and then shipped to the capital region.
