Authorities attributed gasoline problems and rising prices in southern Russia to the rush

Gasoline sales restrictions have been introduced in Adygea, while authorities in the Volgograd Region and Kuban explain the need for sales limits by excessive demand and the chains' own decisions. Social media users have questioned the necessity of the limits.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," in the Volgograd Region, drivers encountered inoperative pumps and a ban on fuel dispensers in canisters at some large gas stations a week ago. Cashiers claim the pumps are closed for repairs and deny any fuel problems. At smaller gas stations, however, restrictions were indeed in place, specifically limiting the amount of fuel dispensed per receipt to 100 liters. As early as June 16, local authorities announced that there was no fuel shortage in the region. Residents confirmed that they had not encountered queues, but noted a rise in fuel prices. At gas stations in rural areas of Kalmykia, the Astrakhan, and Volgograd regions, local residents say they are seeing a surge in demand for fuel, which has risen in price in recent days.

Temporary restrictions on gasoline sales are being introduced in Adygea, Murat Kumpilov, head of the Republic of Adygea, announced today on his Telegram channel. According to him, "deliveries in the region are proceeding as usual, gasoline and diesel fuel reserves at suppliers are at the standard level," and there are no grounds for interruptions. However, according to the regional head, there is a surge in demand at gas stations. "Temporary restrictions on passenger vehicle fill-ups are being introduced to stabilize the situation in Adygea. These measures are aimed at ensuring a more even distribution of fuel," Kumpilov explained.

Authorities in Krasnodar Krai also assured that the problems are related to surge demand.

The Kuban regional task force stated that there is no fuel shortage in Krasnodar Krai and that regional authorities have not made any decisions to restrict gasoline and diesel fuel sales. "Possible restrictions are imposed by gas stations themselves, typically due to repair work or supply logistics issues due to artificially generated demand," the statement said.

Blogger Max Anapsky writes that there is no gasoline shortage in Anapa. "Gasoline was and still is available in Anapa. There are small lines, perhaps because of the Crimeans, they're in trouble," he wrote. Krasnodar City Duma Deputy Alexander Safronov reported stopping at a Lukoil gas station on the M4 highway near Goryachiy Klyuch. "You can't fill up the tank—no more than 30 liters per car. Some stations don't have 92 or 95 octane gasoline," he said. He also added that gasoline cannot be poured into canisters.
