A deputy from the Rostov region was killed in the SVO zone.

Angelina Podkopayeva, a member of parliament of the Shchepkinsky rural settlement, was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, at least 899 soldiers from the Rostov region have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," as of June 9, at least 898 soldiers from the Rostov region were officially recognized as killed in the SVO zone.

Angelina Podkopayeva was killed in the zone of a special military operation, the Aksai district administration reported on its Telegram channel.

Since 2015, she worked in the cultural sector of the Aksai district, including heading the cultural center of the Shchepkin settlement from 2017 to 2022. In 2021, she was elected as a member of parliament of the Shchepkinsky rural settlement. From December 2022 to December 2025, Angelina Podkopayeva served as the executive secretary of the Aksay local branch of the United Russia party.

In January 2026, Angelina Podkopayeva signed a military service contract and was sent to the North Caucasus Military District as a servicewoman. "The death of Angelina Yuryevna was recently reported," the administration said in a statement.

Thus, at least 899 soldiers from the Rostov Region have been officially recognized as killed in the North Caucasus Military District zone. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially announced by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Northern Military District Statistics: Losses Are Growing for Southern Russia".

In December 2025, the Aksay District authorities named 31 soldiers who were killed in the Northern Military District.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits", which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. In particular, the widow of one of the killed soldiers said that without a body, the battalion did not make payments in connection with the death of the soldier.
