A Dagestani soldier was killed in Ukraine.

Magaram Abugadzhiev from Khasavyurt was killed in the military operation. Since its beginning, at least 1,987 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by June 13, officials and security forces had officially recognized at least 1,986 fighters from Dagestan as killed in Ukraine.

The Khasavyurt mayor's office presented the Order of Courage to the family of Magaram Abugadzhiev, a slain participant in the special military operation. The award was presented to the soldier's wife by the mayor, Korgoli Korgoliev, the city administration reported on its Telegram channel.

Thus, at least 1,987 combatants from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. The Caucasian Knot is maintaining a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list is based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "North Caucasus Military District Statistics: Casualties Risen in Southern Russia."

In early June, the Khasavyurt administration reported that Yunus Gazikhmayev had been killed in the military operation.

Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of those killed whose names have been officially released by the authorities. Sergei Melikov, who led Dagestan in February 2022, was the first government official to announce that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzimagomedov.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the Caucasian Knot article "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Are Depriving Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. In particular, the widow of one of the killed soldiers said that without a body, the battalion had not made any payments for the death of the soldier.

The reasons for the participation of Dagestan residents in the fighting became the focus of discussion in the latest report of the death of combatants from that republic. The topic of moral responsibility of those involved in the military operation also emerged as a pressing issue.
