The number of fighters from southern Russia killed in Ukraine has reached 9,250.

At least 4,586 soldiers from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,664 from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," as of June 3, government officials and security forces officially recognized at least 9,200 soldiers from the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) and the Southern Federal District (SFD) as killed during the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. The largest number of military fatalities occurred in Dagestan.

Since the beginning of the SMO in Ukraine, government officials and security forces have recognized at least 9,250 soldiers from southern Russia and the North Caucasus republics as killed.

According to official data, as of June 14, at least 4,586 soldiers from the North Caucasus Federal District have been killed in the military operation. The largest number of fatalities among natives of the North Caucasus Federal District, as before, came from Dagestan: 1,986 soldiers. The deaths of 951 soldiers from Stavropol Krai have been confirmed, along with 588 from North Ossetia, 404 from Kabardino-Balkaria, 265 from Chechnya, 197 from Karachay-Cherkessia, and 195 from Ingushetia.

A total of 4,664 soldiers from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed during the special operation. Among the regions of the Southern Federal District, the Volgograd Region has the highest number of fatalities (1,803). Also recognized as dead are 898 soldiers from the Rostov Region, 849 from the Krasnodar Krai, 744 from the Astrakhan Region, 231 from Kalmykia, and 139 from Adygea.

It should be noted that the actual losses among servicemen from the North Caucasus may be significantly higher than officially acknowledged. This situation is typical for all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, but is particularly acute in Chechnya. Ramzan Kadyrov in February 2023 called on regional leaders not to disclose the number of those killed.

As a reminder, the first government official to report that a Russian soldier had been killed during the SVO was former Dagestan leader Sergey Melikov. On February 26, 2022, he said that officer Nurmagomed Gadzimagomedov was killed in Ukraine.
