The Armenian opposition demanded a response from the Central Election Commission and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the ruling party's violations during the elections.

Members of the ruling Civil Contract party are committing widespread violations at polling stations, while the Central Election Commission and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia are showing inaction, claiming they are unable to control what is happening, the opposition reported.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," parliamentary elections are taking place in Armenia today. Observers previously reported violations, including the filling out of a ballot by a voter's relative and violations of voting secrecy.

Members of Armenia's ruling political party, the Civil Contract, are committing systematic and widespread violations during the elections. They are infiltrating polling stations with their campaign materials, stated Marianna Ghahramanyan, press secretary for the opposition party, Strong Armenia.

"The Central Electoral Commission, as well as the police, are demonstrating inaction in this alarming situation, claiming they remain unable to control what is happening. We call on the competent authorities to ensure the legality of the electoral processes, including with regard to campaign materials," Ghahramanyan wrote on her Facebook page*.

Observers Report New Violations

Meanwhile, observers continue to record violations at polling stations. Specifically, members of the HayaQue association recorded open voting at polling station #8/14, crowding at polling station #23/41, violations of the secrecy of the ballot at polling station #8/9, and the display of campaign posters at polling station #10/1, the content of which may violate electoral law, News.am reported today.

HayaQue observers also reported that at polling station #34/03 in Goris, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party instructed a voter in need of assistance to cast ballot #3 in the ballot box. At some polling stations, observers were not allowed into election commission meetings, the publication noted.

At polling station No. 25/08, a voter attempted to vote, but their ballot had already been signed. At polling station No. 4/19, observers recorded an instance of open voting. They filmed the incident, Armenia Today reported today.

As a reminder, amid preparations for the elections, Armenian authorities have increased pressure on opposition supporters. Security forces searched the offices of the Strong Armenia and Prosperous Armenia parties and detained at least 15 people. Opposition representatives considered this pressure and declared abuse of administrative resources by the authorities.

According to analysts, the parties of Samvel Karapetyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Robert Kocharyan will become key competitors in the elections.
