Kuban region falls under drone attack

Last night, the military destroyed drones in 12 regions, including the Krasnodar Territory.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on the night of May 23, according to authorities, drone debris fell on the grounds of an oil depot in Novorossiysk, setting several technical and administrative buildings on fire. Two local residents were injured during the air strike and were hospitalized. A private home was damaged in Anapa.

The Krasnodar Krai was among the regions where drones were shot down last night, the Ministry of Defense reported today on its Telegram channel.

"Between 8:00 PM Moscow time on May 23 and 7:00 AM Moscow time on May 24, air defense alert systems intercepted and destroyed 33 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vologda, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Ryazan, Smolensk, and Tver regions, the Moscow region, the Krasnodar Krai, and the Republic of Crimea," the publication states.

The Kuban operational headquarters, as of 8:56 AM Moscow time, had not reported an air attack on its Telegram channel.

Proximity to oil depots and refineries creates problems for Kuban residents

On May 13, a drone attack was recorded in the village of Volna in the Temryuk District. A fire broke out at the facility, injuring one person. A man injured in a drone attack in Taman also required medical assistance.

Air attack near aircraft factory in Taganrog sparks discussion on social media

The area around an aircraft factory and a park in Taganrog has been cordoned off following an airstrike that injured three people today. Telegram users have suggested that authorities evacuate the plant outside the city limits for the safety of residents.

The village of Volna has previously been linked to drone attacks. On February 17, an oil tank caught fire there. The fire was extinguished on February 18. On February 15, two fires totaling 2,200 square meters broke out in the village of Volna after an air strike. One was extinguished that evening, the other the following day.

Residents of the Afipsky and Ilsky villages in the Seversky District, where oil refineries are located, regularly suffer from drone attacks. For example, on December 14, 2025, authorities reported that during a drone attack, "UAV debris" damaged five private homes in the Afipsky village. On December 1, a drone attack damaged 19 homes and a cell phone tower in the village of Ilsky.

On August 3, 2025, in the Adler District of Sochi, a woman sustained shrapnel wounds in a drone attack near an oil depot and a garage cooperative on Aviatsionnaya Street.

In July of that year, the area around this garage cooperative also became the epicenter of a drone incident. On the night of July 24, two women were killed and 11 others were injured. Garage tenants complained after the incident that they had not received compensation for their lost property. Sochi residents explained to the "Caucasian Knot" that these garages are suitable for housing, and people live there.

"My friend, Elena, lives there with her small children, right in the garages on Aviatsionnaya Street. When she called me in the middle of the night, my heart sank. She was crying. She was hysterical. She said she and her husband managed to get the children ready five minutes before their garage was destroyed," said Sochi resident Natalya.
