As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on May 16, after heavy rainfall, the Kheu River overflowed its banks and washed away a temporary bypass road installed during major repairs to a bridge on a road in the village of Gerpegezh in the Cherek District. As a result, residents of hundreds of houses were left without transportation. By May 17, a temporary crossing was organized across the river.

Amid heavy rainfall, flooding of courtyards and roads occurred in several settlements, the head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Kazbek Kokov, reported today on his Telegram channel. "This includes the villages of Aushiger, Nartan, and Ozrek," he explained.

In the Tersky District, outside of populated areas, a 120-meter section of the Terek River bank partially collapsed. "There are no casualties, and infrastructure is not damaged. Emergency response teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and municipalities are on duty in all affected areas," the official reported.

As of 12:18 p.m. Moscow time, no comments have been posted under Kokov's post, although the option to leave comments is enabled.
