A verdict has been handed down in the case of the death of Dagestani resident Dzhabrailov in a police station.

A court in Makhachkala sentenced three security officials to six years in prison, finding them guilty of the death of Akhmed Dzhabrailov in a police station.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in July 2024, Akhmed Dzhabrailov, a resident of Makhachkala, died in the Sovietsky District Police Department of Makhachkala after being detained for disturbing the peace. A forensic examination confirmed the relatives' version that Dzhabrailov died of asphyxiation.

On May 15, the Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala sentenced three police officers accused in the murder of Akhmed Dzhabrailov, TASS reports, citing the court's press service.

Each defendant received six years in prison.

A fourth defendant was sent to the SVO zone and died there last summer, Shamil Khadulaev, chairman of the Dagestan Public Monitoring Commission, reported on his Telegram channel.

Akhmed Dzhabrailov died of asphyxia, his mother, Khadizhat Gasanova, stated on August 13 in an appeal to Putin and the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Investigative Committee, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the FSB, asking them to take the case under their personal control. "As a result of violent actions, electric shocks, blows to the face and other parts of the body, as well as deliberate acts of strangulation, Dzhabrailov died of asphyxia at the Sovietsky District Police Department in Makhachkala," said Khadizhat Gasanova.

In January 2023, Makhachkala resident Kurban Dalgatov died after being detained at the same police station. Thirteen police officers have been charged with his death. Five of them have been sent to the special military unit. On April 10, the Qualification Collegium of Judges of Dagestan approved the resignation of Judge Patimat Makhatilova, who legalized an unauthorized extension to a high-rise building that collapsed during the flood. She was presiding over the Dalgatov murder case. Due to the termination of her powers, the Dalgatov case will be reopened.
