A native of Dagestan was convicted of murdering his wife and stepdaughter in Vladikavkaz.

The Supreme Court of North Ossetia sentenced a native of Dagestan to 20 years in a maximum-security penal colony for the murder of his wife and stepdaughter.

As reported by Caucasian Knot, in July 2025, a 58-year-old resident of Vladikavkaz stabbed his wife and two stepdaughters, aged 23 and 15, multiple times, and then wounded himself. The woman and the older girl died instantly, and the 15-year-old girl was hospitalized.

According to the investigation and the court, between 2024 and 2025, the accused repeatedly threatened to kill his wife and her daughter. On July 7, 2025, during another conflict, he stabbed his wife and two stepdaughters, ages 23 and 15, multiple times before injuring himself, the press service of the Investigative Committee of North Ossetia reported on its Telegram channel.

The woman and the 23-year-old girl died at the scene from their wounds. The 15-year-old girl was taken to the hospital, and thanks to doctors, she survived.

The Supreme Court of North Ossetia found the man guilty of threatening to kill 1 , murdering two or more people 2 , and attempted murdering two or more people. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He will serve his sentence in a maximum-security penal colony, followed by two years of restricted freedom.

"Caucasian Knot" wrote about other high-profile cases of domestic violence in North Ossetia. Among the most well-known is the case of former police officer Vadim Tekhov, who was found guilty in 2021 of murdering his ex-wife, Regina Gagieva. The court sentenced him to 16 years in prison, but in 2023, Gagieva's relatives welcomed Tekhov back to life in Vladikavkaz. In June, it was reported that Tekhov was buried in Vladikavkaz—he died in the war zone in Ukraine, but his death was not related to the fighting.

Traditions and customs in most regions of the North Caucasus predispose women to domestic violence. Authorities consider physical abuse by husbands to be the norm, and victims of violence are not prepared to go to the police, human rights activists explained earlier to a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
