Seven villages in Dagestan were left without transport links due to a road washout.

Transportation links with seven villages in Dagestan's Charodinsky District have been interrupted again due to a repeated washout of a section of the road.

As reported by Kavkazsky Uzel, transport links with eight villages in the Charodinsky District were interrupted after river water washed out the approach to a temporary bridge. On May 13, Dagestanavtodor reported the restoration of transport links with the villages.

As of 8:05 p.m. Moscow time on May 13, a local road near the village of Chitab in the Charodinsky District was washed away by the Risor River after repair work was completed. Transport to seven settlements has been temporarily disrupted as a result of the washout, Interfax reported today, citing the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Dagestan.

Traffic in this area was temporarily closed to prevent the risk of accidents overnight. The estimated completion time for the cleanup is 3:00 PM Moscow time on May 14.

As a reminder, the floods that occurred in the North Caucasus in late March and early April were among the most devastating in recent years. Six people, including three minors, died as a result of the flooding in Dagestan. Dagestan and Chechnya suffered the most from the disaster, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Spring flooding in the North Caucasus-2026".

The Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences linked regular flooding in Dagestan to a combination of natural processes and anthropogenic impacts, which increases the scale of natural disasters.

Dagestani analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" also named ill-considered development, natural factors, and the deplorable state of hydraulic structures among the reasons for the devastating flooding.
