A Dagestani soldier was killed in the SVO zone.

Shamil Abdullaev from the Tabasaran district was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have officially recognized at least 1,930 servicemen from Dagestan as killed there.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by May 13, officials and security forces recognized at least 1,929 servicemen from Dagestan as killed in combat in Ukraine.

A memorial plaque was unveiled at the Tsurtilsky School in the Tabasaran district to Shamil Abdullaev, a graduate of the school who was killed in a special military operation, the head of the district, Magomed Kurbanov, announced today.

Shamil Abdullaev voluntarily went to serve in a special military operation in November 2023. In the SVO zone, Shamil was stationed in the southern Donetsk region and served in a reconnaissance unit. In December 2023, he was killed in action. He was awarded the Order of Courage (posthumously). He was 40 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and five children.

Thus, at least 1,930 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed in Ukraine.

At least 4,494 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,607 from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "North Caucasian Federal District Statistics: Casualties Risen in Southern Russia."

In April, the administration of Dagestan's Tabasaran District reported that Abdulmutelim Ramazanov and Shikh Mekhtiyev had been killed in the North Caucasian Federal District.

Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasian Federal District in the number of those killed, whose names have been officially released by the authorities. Dagestan's head, Sergey Melikov, was the first government official to announce back in February 2022 that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzimagomedov.
