A companion of Krasnodar judge Chernov has been found guilty of fraud.

The court has sentenced Vladislav Ovcharenko, a confidant of Alexander Chernov, the chairman of the Krasnodar Regional Court, to a suspended sentence. The defendant was found guilty of attempting to defraud 1.2 million rubles.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on April 3, it was reported that a criminal case has been filed with the court against Vladislav Ovcharenko, a long-time confidant of Alexander Chernov, the former chairman of the Krasnodar Regional Court, accused of fraud.

A court in Krasnodar has found Vladislav Ovcharenko guilty of attempted fraud, Kommersant reports today, citing the joint press service of the Kuban courts.

Ovcharenko has been sentenced to three years' suspended imprisonment. The court found that, citing personal connections in the judicial system, he offered an acquaintance 1.2 million rubles to transfer the money to a regional court judge to mitigate the pretrial detention of a defendant in a criminal case. However, Ovcharenko had no intention of fulfilling his promise. He was detained while receiving the money.

According to law enforcement, Vladislav Ovcharenko and his mother were proxies of Alexander Chernov, who headed the Krasnodar Regional Court from 1994 to 2019, the publication states.

As a reminder, law enforcement believes Ovcharenko participated in schemes to acquire valuable assets jointly with Alexander Chernov. Specifically, in 2010, they purchased Gorny Sad JSC through fictitious loan agreements, which allowed the transfer of 1,100 hectares of agricultural land to Ovcharenko's acquaintance. Ovcharenko also helped resolve a property dispute between two entrepreneurs in 2011, for which he received a number of properties in Krasnodar.

Assets worth almost 14 billion rubles were seized from Chernov and his relatives.

Claims against Dagestani officials have created problems for bona fide property owners

Following the prosecutor's office's demand that assets belonging to the entourage of former Makhachkala Mayor Said Amirov and Dagestan State Secretary Magomed-Sultan Magomedov be transferred to the state, the properties of individuals not connected to the former officials have been seized. One of them faced the risk of property seizure.

In August 2025, a court, following a lawsuit filed by the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, confiscated assets worth 13 billion rubles from Alexander Chernov. The cassation court upheld the decision.

In April 2026, it became known that the court had confiscated property belonging to Alexander Chernov's family members worth approximately 900 million rubles.

According to the court, during his 25 years as court chairman, Chernov engaged in illegal activities and invested his income in real estate, luxury cars, jewelry, and other luxury items. He facilitated the appointment of his ex-wife, Galina Chernova, as president of the regional notary chamber, and his daughter as vice president. All of them, according to the court, took part in property re-registration schemes.
