The road to one village remains blocked in Dagestan.

Residents of the village of Zhazhada in the Tlyaratinsky District are without transportation today due to a rockfall on the road.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on May 3 it was reported that the Kina-Germets local road in the Rutulsky District of Dagestan was temporarily closed due to a landslide. Residents of 14 villages were left without transportation.

The village of Zhazhada remains blocked

As of 10:00 a.m. Moscow time on May 4, one section of highway in Dagestan is closed, the Dagestanavtodor Telegram channel reported. "One settlement (one settlement in the Tlyaratinsky district) remains without transport links; 16 sections have been closed with detours," the publication stated.

According to information posted today on the agency's website, the village of Zhazhada remains blocked. The road to it remains closed "due to a landslide of large, oversized boulders."

A total of 158 road sections were closed as a result of the flooding.

According to the Dagestan Ministry of Transport, traffic was closed or impeded on 158 sections of road in 32 districts due to flooding and landslides.

"Currently, one section is closed, and another 16 are closed, but detours are in place," the ministry reported on its Telegram channel on May 3.

Road services are clearing roads of snow, rock slides, landslides, and mudflows daily, the Ministry of Transport stated. "Restoration efforts will continue until all affected sections are fully reopened," the publication notes.

As a reminder, floods caused by heavy rains occurred in the North Caucasus in late March and early April and were among the most devastating in recent years. Six people died as a result of the flooding in Dagestan. Dagestan and Chechnya suffered the most from the natural disaster, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Spring Flooding in the North Caucasus - 2026".
