A state of emergency has been declared due to the threat of a landslide in the Laksky District.

A landslide destroyed four houses in the Laksky district, damaging 62 buildings, and threatening more than 40 more houses. Residents have been evacuated to relatives.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", the road to the village of Guimi in the Laksky District was blocked after a mudslide. residents cannot even go for groceries, villagers said on April 12, complaining about the lack of assistance.

A state of emergency has been declared in the Laksky District, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for Dagestan reported today.

"Due to precipitation in the form of rain and snow, which caused landslides, four houses were completely destroyed and 62 houses were damaged. In the villages of Khulisma, Uri, Khanar, Kurla, Shuni, Kundy, Kuba, and Bagikla in the Laksky District, signs of a landslide approaching residents' homes were detected. More than 40 more residents could be affected by the landslide. "The houses are home to only 50 people, including eight children," the agency wrote on its website.

People were evacuated to relatives, and a temporary accommodation center was also set up in the gymnasium of the school in the village of Kumukh, the statement said.

The appeal from a resident of the Laksky District was published by Chernovik on April 27. "The village has been isolated for over three weeks: landslides have washed out the road, a rockfall has destroyed the trail, and cars can't get out because of huge cracks. Small children and elderly people are left in the villages. Children can't go to school. People with diabetes and high blood pressure won't be able to leave if they get sick. They can't get food and essential items, and supplies are running out. We urgently request that special equipment be sent to clear the road!" the statement reads.

The Chairman of the Government of Dagestan, Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, the Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasus Federal District, Magomed Ramazanov, and the Director of the Department of Civil Defense and Population Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, Oleg Manuilo, made a helicopter flight to examine the situation in the Laksky and Kulinsky districts. "Landslides and landslides have been recorded," the Dagestan government reported on its Telegram channel.

This is the second district in Dagestan in the past two days to declare a state of emergency due to the threat of landslides.

As a reminder, on April 28, the head of the Khunzakh District declared a state of emergency throughout the municipality. This decision was made due to increased landslide activity, with the threat observed in the villages of Butsra, Tselmes, and Kharikolo.

A state of emergency has also been declared in the village of Saniorta in the Tlyaratinsky District due to the threat of further landslides. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of resettling people from this settlement.

Floods caused by heavy rains occurred in the North Caucasus in late March and early April and were among the most devastating in recent years. Six people died as a result of the flooding in Dagestan.
