Residents of Parakar demanded that the family of Volodya Grigoryan, accused of murdering him, be evicted from the community.

Families and friends of Volodya Grigoryan, the head of the Parakar community, who was killed last September, held a protest demanding the eviction of the family of Gevork Harutyunyan, who is accused of his murder, from the community.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on September 23, 2025, Volodya Grigoryan, who was elected head of the enlarged Parakar community (which includes Merdzavan) from the opposition Unity bloc, was shot and killed in the village of Merdzavan in the Armavir region. Grigoryan's friend, police officer Karen Abrahamyan, was also killed. Law enforcement detained two suspects, and the case went to court on January 13. Residents of Merdzavan believe that relatives of a local police officer are involved in the murder. Local residents have repeatedly held protests demanding that the Akhtoyans leave the community.

Relatives and friends of the head of the Parakar community, Volodya Grigoryan, held a protest on April 19, demanding that the family of Gevork Harutyunyan, accused of Grigoryan's murder, leave the community, News.am reports.

Protesters held posters reading "Prevent possible danger," "Evict Gevork Harutyunyan's family from Parakar," and "Restore peace in Parakar."

Police guard the Arutyunyans' house. Grigoryan's mother, who attended the protest, stated that law enforcement officers should not guard the house, but should conduct a fair investigation and punish all those responsible.
