The charges against Kuban Vice Governor Minkova have been increased.

The case of former Kuban Vice Governor Anna Minkova, accused of fraud, has been sent to court. Investigators have added charges of laundering property obtained through crime to the former official's charges.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," in January, security forces detained former Kuban Deputy Governor Anna Minkova. She is accused of fraud on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code; carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years).

The final version of the indictment in the criminal case against Anna Minkova includes an article of the Russian Criminal Code on the legalization of funds or property acquired through the commission of a crime, TASS reported on April 17.

According to the case file on the website of the Leninsky District Court of Krasnodar, Anna Minkova is charged under Article 159 (fraud) and paragraph "b" of Part 4 of Article 174.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (legalization (laundering) of funds or other property acquired by a person through the commission of a crime, on an especially large scale). This part of Article 174.1 of the Russian Criminal Code carries a sentence of up to seven years in prison.

The case file was updated on April 17. It indicates that the case was submitted to the court on April 9. The April 16 hearing was cancelled due to witnesses failing to appear. The next hearing is scheduled for 2:00 PM Moscow time on April 20.

As a reminder, in February, the Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit to seize Minkova's property for state control. On April 8, a court in Krasnodar upheld the lawsuit, ordering the seizure of Minkova's property and that of her relatives. The market value of the assets being seized for state control exceeds 338 million rubles.
